After a week break from group training, we got the wheels rolling again this morning... literally.
Besides catching up on some rest, some paperwork and taking a break from the daily coaching routine, Chris and I went on an overnight hike on the Far Mountain Traverse. Chris's excitement for Alaska was evident:

So how does this attach? |
As for training today we seemed a bit rusty overall, although the cobwebs were definitely being wiped away as the session went on. That is to be expected after a break week like last week. Some folks looked to be on fire too.

We found some things we could use a bit of work on too. We were a bit uncomfortable with a high tempo stride/run on rollerskis, and throwing a corner in the middle of a classic sprint made for a few hiccups and rough transitions. The good side of it is that we are stretching our abilities and not just performing within our comfort level, and locating those opportunities for improvement is the first step. The next step is to actually work on them, so we'll take the chance to do that over the next couple of months, and keep an eye on them as we progress into winter.

Reese Hanneman was in town, so he jumped in the workout with us - World Cup and World Jr and U23 experience is always good to match up against and learn from. |

Skeeto was ripping today. |
