First Roll of the Summer

The Comp Team athletes convened at West Valley Parking Lot yesterday morning to strap on roller skis for the first time this season (at least as a group).  It was a good session - simple, but effective in getting everyone looking (and hopefully feeling) more comfortable on their boards.

I realized I used nearly those same words to describe the session from Tuesday - I guess it's a theme this time of year.

It was also cool to see how far these athletes have come in the past year.  We are starting out at a high level this summer, with possibilities of accomplishing great things when the snow flies again in a few short months!

The group gathers for instructions a few minutes after 8 in the morn...

After a no-pole warm-up we started off with some balance drills

It blows my mind to think that Pat (in Green) just started skiing a year and a half ago.  His improvement is evidence of the power of a good attitude.

Jewel did great on her first day ever on rollerskis.

After the slaloms, we did a few speeds focused on being relaxed and full in our motions - then the group split with most opting for a quick strength session on the track and a few of the older skis choosing to ski longer before the did strength in the afternoon.
